Disequilibrium

Formation – Transformation – the InBetween and Balance. Disequilibrium is a kinetic sculpture which deals with the constant flux of material and the balance of forces. A stick with an attached ring of plastic foil is put into motion. The thin membrane gets inflated by its own movement and materializes the invisible: Air. Surface and matter gets reshaped, from small to voluminous, from weightless to heavy and from silent to subtle noise.

On site three identical sculptures are shown next to each other. They all work with the same speed, they all initially started at the same moment. Over time their rhythm will change from synchron to asynchron and only defined by the weight of air they got caught.
